🌡️🧪 Investigating Temperature Changes When Salt Dissolves in Water

24/07/2026

Our Year 9 students carried out a chemistry practical to investigate how temperature changes occur when different salts dissolve in water.

During the experiment, students measured the temperature of the solution before and after dissolving various salts. By carefully recording and comparing their results, they identified whether each reaction was exothermic (releasing heat) or endothermic (absorbing heat).

This practical investigation helped students understand how energy is transferred during chemical changes and how temperature measurements can be used to classify different types of reactions. It also strengthened their skills in scientific observation, accurate data collection, analysis, and experimental techniques.

A valuable hands-on learning experience that deepened students’ understanding of chemical reactions, energy changes, and the principles of thermochemistry. 🌡️⚗️✨
